Two-Year, All-Star Defenseman Set to Join Soaring Eagles This Fall

BOSTON, MA -- Kyle Hughes, an '03 birth year from Dexter, NY, spent two seasons in the Eastern Hockey League (EHL), and recently committed to Elmira College for the fall of 2024.

Over the course of Hughes' two seasons in the EHL, he hit the ice for 69 total games combined between the regular season and the postseason. Throughout that time, Hughes collected 12 points to his credit on three goals and nine assists.

Overall, he's the 24th player in league history that chose Elmira for the next step in his respective career, as the Soaring Eagles have committed at least one player from the EHL in 10 of the 11 seasons since the league was formed back in 2013.

It's also worth pointing out that Hughes is one of two players heading off to Elmira this fall, as the Soaring Eagles are bringing in not one, but two, All-Star defensemen from the EHL this fall. When he arrives on campus in his home state of New York, Hughes will team up with Corbin Melie.
