Connecticut Nor'Easter to Begin Play in September, Relocate Team and Staff from Newington

SIMSBURY, CT -- The Eastern Hockey League (EHL) is pleased to announce that the Connecticut Chiefs junior hockey franchise has been purchased by Adam Westhaver, President, CT Nor’Easter.  As part of the relocation to the International Skating Center of CT (ISCC), the team, coaching staff, and hockey operations staff will remain in place within the program.

Also, in conjunction with this milestone acquisition, ISCC is thrilled to unveil expansion plans of its current facility to include a cutting-edge training complex. Spanning over 25,000 square feet, the new expansion will feature state-of-the-art amenities including two (2) half-size training ice rinks, specialized strength and conditioning areas, and advanced training and video review spaces. Designed specifically for aspiring athletes, the complex will offer comprehensive on and off-ice training, personalized academic advising, professional locker rooms including lounge and academic spaces, and access to nutrition and mental health resources.

“Our goal for the Nor’Easter is to create an environment that mirrors NCAA standards, ensuring athletes receive top-tier preparation for successful transitions into junior, NCAA, or professional hockey careers,” stated Adam Westhaver, Nor’Easter President and Owner. "This acquisition marks another milestone in our commitment to fostering athletic excellence while enriching our community. Coupled with the advancement of our new training facilities and elite coaching staff, we are poised to create exceptional opportunities for young athletes to thrive both on and off the ice.”

Kelle Becconsall, Owner and General Manager of ISCC, added, “the addition of these teams aligns perfectly with ISCC's strategic vision to revitalize our facility and provide unparalleled athletic opportunities within our community and beyond. This acquisition enhances our sports portfolio and underscores our dedication to developing young athletes into future hockey stars. We are proud to welcome the Nor’Easter Junior EHL and EHLP players and coaching staff to Simsbury."

This fall will mark the start of Greg Heffernan's 4th season in the league, as he will continue on as the Head Coach of the program's EHL team, and General Manager of the organization. As for Michael Esposito, this season will mark his second year at the helm of the program's team in the Eastern Hockey League Premier (EHLP).

Please join the EHL and EHLP in officially welcoming the Connecticut Nor'Easter into the league, and be sure to circle a game at ISCC on your calendar for this upcoming season.
