Providence All-Star Forward Will Join Ravens This Fall

N. SMITHFIELD, RI -- Matthew Frett, a forward for the Providence Hockey Club, has committed to Franklin Pierce University for the fall of 2024.

An '03 from Washington Township, NJ, Frett has spent two years in the Eastern Hockey League (EHL). In his first season with the Philadelphia Hockey Club, he played 38 games, recording two goals and eight assists for a total of 10 points. This season, with the Providence Hockey Club, Frett played 42 games, tallying six goals and 11 assists for a total of 17 points, contributing significantly to the success of Providence's inaugural EHL season.

"Franklin Pierce University is getting a complete, 200-foot player with Mr. Frett," said Providence head coach and general manager Jeff Perreault. "I have had the honor to coach Matt for the last two seasons. Matt also proved this year he could step in and log major minutes, filling a need on the back end. Without his two-way contribution, we wouldn’t have been able to have the success we had as a first-year franchise. Congrats to Mr. Frett!"

Frett will be joining Franklin Pierce University, an NCAA Division II team in the NE-10 conference, along with several other EHL alumni, including his teammates from Providence -- Ryan Dutcher, Phillip Parker, and Thomas Perivolotis, as well as Giovanni Ursillo from H.C. Rhode Island, Kade Maddock from New Hampshire Avalanche, Riley Mastowski from Team Maryland, and Tyler Turner from the Vermont Lumberjacks.

"College hockey has always been the objective for me. Playing juniors was the first step towards that end," said Frett. "After two seasons, I’m thankful to my Coach JP for helping me reach this point, and I am excited to be completing that goal and furthering my hockey career by attending Franklin Pierce University."
