Lumberjacks Veteran Defenseman Set to Join Ravens this Fall

BURLINGTON, VT -- Tyler Turner, a defenseman for the Vermont Lumberjacks, has committed to Franklin Pierce University (FPU) for the fall of 2024.

The '03 native of Buffalo, NY began his junior hockey career with the Valley Jr. Warriors at the Eastern Hockey League Premier (EHLP) level, back in the 2021-22 season. Combined between that season and the 2022-23 campaign, Turner saw time in both the EHLP and the Eastern Hockey League (EHL).

Combining this past year into his resume, and Turner finished his junior hockey career with 15 points over the course of 98 games in the EHL, and 11 points in 42 games in the EHLP.

“Tyler made an immediate impact this season with his energy in the locker room and intensity on the ice,” said Lumberjacks head coach Seth Gustin. “He was a crucial part of our defensive core this year, playing in all situations throughout the season. He is another player who trusted the league path of development, going from EHLP to EHL, and now onto NCAA hockey. His style of play is going to translate well into the college game. We are looking forward to watching him continue to develop and succeed at the next level.”

Turner joins a platoon of seven other EHL players from around the league, whom have all chose FPU as the next stop in their respective careers.

“Firstly, thank you to my coaches at Williamsville North - Bob and Jake Rosen for a great 3 years of development and a chance to become a Spartan,” said Turner. “Starting my junior career with Valley, they helped me develop on and off the ice to become a better player and better person. This season with Vermont, I learned a lot from Coach Gustin, Coach Lowry, and Coach Reyes. I would run through a brick wall for anyone of my teammates and coaches. Coach Gustin’s intensity compliments my ability to play with an edge on the ice which I’m excited to do with Franklin Pierce throughout my collegiate hockey career.”
