Bears Defenseman to join Blue Jays in the Fall of 2026
FLEMINGTON, NJ – Garrett Carvounis, a defenseman for the New Jersey Bears, has committed to the University of Saint Joseph for the 2026-2027 season.
Carvounis, an ‘05 out of Flushing, MI, spent one season with the Bears, serving as an Assistant Captain. Including their Frozen Finals run, Carvounis recorded 29 points in 55 games. He also represented the Bears on the Mid-Atlantic All Star Team.
“Garrett was a great leader for us this season,” Jason Kilcoyne, Bears Head Coach, said. “He was able to play any and all roles we needed from him this season on the back-end. Garrett was able to accomplish every goal he set out for this year. He really is a great person to be around and I think Adam Houli is getting a pillar for his program. I wish him all the best.”
Carvounis is the second commit to the Blue Jays from the Bears. They will be led by former EHL New Jersey 87’s Head Coach Adam Houli.
“I am excited to announce that I will be continuing my academic and athletic journey at the University of Saint Joseph,” said Carvounis. “It has been one unique ride to this point, and I am super grateful to all of those whom I have met along the way. I want to thank Coach Kilcoyne and the rest of the Bears organization this past year for their unwavering support in helping me reach the collegiate level. This would not be possible without the countless sacrifices made by my family and the support and guidance of friends, teammates, and coaches growing up. Can’t wait for what’s to come ahead!”
