Apple Core Forward to join Blue Jays in the Fall of 2026
BREWSTER, NY – Evan Vasiljevs, a forward for the New York Apple Core, has committed to the University of Saint Joseph for the 2026-2027 season.
Vasiljevs, an ‘05 out of Cheshire, CT, is a product of the EHL’s pipeline of development, climbing from the EHLP to the EHL and now, to the NCAA. He began his career with the New Hampshire Avalanche’s Premier squad where he was amongst their best players. He currently has three goals and two assists in 26 EHL games with the Apple Core.
“Evan is an outstanding kid that possesses tremendous work ethic, no quit attitude and leadership with his ability to stay positive and pick guys up,” Apple Core Head Coach Josh Fusco said. “He has been a big piece in the lineup for us, right from the moment he came in. We are extremely excited for him and look forward to watching him in the future.”
The Blue Jays will begin NCAA Division III play for the 2026-2027 season, playing out of the International Skating Center of Connecticut in Simsbury, the home rink of the Connecticut Nor’Easter. He will join former teammate Adyn Simmons, whom he played with during his tenure with the Avalanche. His brother, Nik, is an EHL alum currently playing at Westfield State University.

They have sacrificed so much of their time, energy, and resources to help me reach this point, and I would not be here without them. I would also like to thank the New York Apple Core organization and coaching staff, as well as the New Hampshire Avalanche organization and coaching staff, for their guidance and belief in me as I worked toward my goal of playing NCAA college hockey. I am truly honored and excited for the opportunity to be part of the new men’s ice hockey program at the University of Saint Joseph and to contribute to the team during its inaugural season.”
