87’s Forward to join Colonels in the Fall of 2026
WALL TOWNSHIP, NJ – Alex Haar, a forward for the New Jersey 87’s has committed to Wilkes University for the 2026-2027 season.
An ‘05 out of Oakhurst, NJ, Haar played a trio of seasons with the 87’s organization, beginning with their AAA program in 2023-2024 before helping them to a championship in 2024-2025. This past season, Haar represented his team at the EHL All Star College Series, where he scored on the NCAA stage. He sits within the top ten in points with fifty through 32 games.
“We are extremely proud of Alex for his commitment to Wilkes University,” said 87’s Head Coach Matt Kiernan. “He has been part of our program since he was 16 years old and has played an integral role in building an environment that positions our players for success as athletes and as young men. We are grateful that Alex entrusted his development to us over the years, and we look forward to watching him bring his determination and competitive spirit to the NCAA level.”
Haar will join a number of EHL alumni with the Colonels, including some former South Division rivals from the New Jersey Bears.
“I joined this organization at a young age, and it quickly became a second home,” Haar said. “Competing at a high level so close to where I live, alongside incredible teammates and dedicated coaches, has shaped me not only as a player, but as a person. I’m especially thankful to my coaches for challenging me, supporting me, and guiding my development over the past five years. As I look ahead, I’m grateful for the opportunity to continue growing both on and off the ice at Wilkes University. I truly appreciate the confidence their coaching staff has shown in me, and I’m excited to get to work with my new coaches and teammates while contributing to such a strong collegiate hockey program.”
