Capitals Second-Year Defenseman will Join Purple Knights in Fall
NORTH SMITHFIELD, RI – Carter Sturgeon, a defenseman for the Providence Capitals, has committed to Saint Michael’s College for the 2025-2026 season.
A two year veteran of the EHL, the 04’ native of Saranac Lake, NY, Sturgeon represented Providence for 98 games. In total, Sturgeon recorded three goals and eight assists. He manned the blue-line for seven postseason games en route to the Capitals’ first final four appearance.
“I wish Carter that best for his hockey at the Division II level with Saint Michael’s College,” said Capitals Head Coach Jeff Perreault. “Carter’s on and off ice personality was the glue of this past year’s team and we look forward to seeing him at the next level.”
Saint Michael’s competes in the Northeast-10 Conference under Head Coach Damian DiGiulian.
“Super thankful to Saint Michael’s for giving me the opportunity to further my education and hockey career,” Sturgeon said. “I can’t thank coach Jeff and Benny enough for giving me the opportunity to play junior hockey for the Providence Capitals. And thank you to my family for giving me the opportunity to play the sport I love.”
