Second-Year Defenseman to Join Wolves in Fall

Walpole, MA – Drew Coady, a defenseman for the Express Hockey Club, has committed to Western Connecticut State for the Fall of 2025.

An 04’ out of Braintree, MA, Coady has climbed the league’s ladder of development, ascending from EHLP to EHL and now to NCAA hockey. Coady earned Defenseman of the Year Honors in the EHLP with 23 goals and 26 assists. He followed that up with a seamless transition to the EHL, tallying seven goals and twelve assists to lead the Express blue line in goals.

“Drew has been a two-year guy for us at the Express,” Express Head Coach Nic Cota said. “Each season with us, he was an impact player. Starting with our EHLP team and moving up, year two was a fluid transition. His skating ability and compete level is something we will miss at the Express for sure. Congratulations to Drew and the Coady family on this next chapter at the NCAA level. I look forward to seeing his impact in year one at Western Connecticut.”

Coady will join Western Connecticut for their inaugural season at the NCAA Division III level. They will compete in the Little East Conference (LEC).

“I feel the EHL and Express are a huge reason I am where I am today,” Coady said. “I started my journey in the EHLP with the Express and instantly started to improve my game physically and mentally under Coach Cota and Coach Kyle. My commitment to West Conn felt like an easy decision. Coach Friedman has a lot of experience having played professionally and coached Division 1 hockey, and Coach Condon is actively involved in getting us ready and excited for next year.”
