Wolfpack Goaltender Set to Join Wildcats this Fall

CROMWELL, CT -- Michael Rockwell, a goalie for the Hartford Jr. Wolfpack, has committed to Johnson and Wales University for the Fall of 2017. Rockwell joined the Wolfpack in January, and is 4-5-0 in his first nine starts for Hartford.

"Mike came to us from Topeka in the NAHL where he played over 20 games this season," said Wolfpack head coach Chris Cerrella. "He came back to the East Coast for more college exposure and within three weeks of being with us, went on two college visits and he made his choice. Mike is a big kid that moves very well and I think he will translate well at the next level for JWU. I am very happy for Mike. He is a good young man and an inspiring student athlete. This is a great fit for him and a great fit for Coach LaCour and the Wildcats. I wish the Rockwell family nothing but the best of luck in the future."

While Rockwell has only been in the EHL for a couple months, the '97 netminder knows how important this time has been. The native of New York is eager and excited to get things started with the Wildcats this Fall.

"I was being recruited by JWU for a few weeks with the Wolfpack and after I started to pursue it more I felt it was a great fit for me," said Rockwell. "During my visit I fell in love with the campus and Coach LaCour made me feel welcome. I am excited to represent such a great program and can’t wait till this fall to start my college hockey and academic career. I want to thank my parents for helping me get to this point in my career, and want to thank my friends and teammates as well. I want to thank Coach Cerrella for bringing me in when I left Topeka and helping me get a college commitment very quickly. I am looking forward to the rest of the season with the Wolfpack and then continuing with Johnson and Wales, go Wildcats!"

The Wolfpack wrap up the regular season with a matchup against the Philadelphia Revolution this morning, and then they'll face-off with the Philadelphia Jr. Flyers in the first round of the EHL playoffs.
