Jr. Flyers Forward Set to Join Huskies in the Fall of 2017

WEST CHESTER, PA -- Adam Papayoanou, a forward for the Philadelphia Jr. Flyers, has committed to the University of Southern Maine for the Fall of 2017. Since joining the Jr. Flyers in November, Papayoanou has tallied 21 points in his last 28 games.

“Adam has exceptional hands and great speed," said Jr. Flyers head coach Jerry Domish. "Choosing Southern Maine is excellent for him because they play on an Olympic size rink, which will give him a lot of time and space. I wish him the best and I think he can have a great four year career.”

Papayoanou began the season with the Connecticut Nighthawks, and his season totals dating back to September add up to 39 points in 51 games. The '96 forward from California ranks amongst the top-30 scorers in the EHL. Papayoanou is excited about his future, as well as finishing off his junior career in strong fashion.

“I want to thank my family for being the main reason I am able to play hockey," said Papayoanou. "I want to thank Jeff Tory, the GM of the Connecticut Nighthawks, who got me in connection with Southern Maine. I also want to thank my coaching staff here with the Jr. Flyers organization for helping me become a better hockey player. I’m gonna miss the guys the most. Even though I came to the team late, everyone has been real nice and I’m thankful for that. We are a good hockey team on and off the ice and I’ll miss them for sure.”

The Jr. Flyers are riding a 12-game winning streak into their matchup with the Hartford Jr. Wolfpack tonight at 8:00pm. There is still an outside chance of passing the Philadelphia Little Flyers in the league standings, but the Jr. Flyers would need some help down the stretch. All signs are pointing towards the Jr. Flyers finishing with the 2nd best record in the league at the end of the regular season.
