Corson Green, a defensman for the Northern Cyclones, has committed to the University of New Hampshire for the Fall of 2018. The 1999-born defenseman came to the Northern Cyclones this year after playing one season for the Canadian International Hockey Academy in Rockland, ON.  The Potsdam, NY native was drafted by the Soo Greyhounds in the 4th round of the OHL draft, which led to a difficult decision for Green.

Before this season, Green had to make a decision between trying to play in major junior hockey in the OHL or come to the Cyclones to play for the U16 National team and Head Coach Frank O'Connor. Playing for the Cyclones would give Corson an opportunity to be exposed by Division I college coaches and give him an opportunity to fulfill his dream of one day playing Division I college hockey.

Green chose the Cyclones.

Green started the season with the U16 National team, where he helped lead the Cyclones to a New Hampshire State Championship and advanced to the New England Districts, where they lost in the semi-finals. In early December, after having great success at the U16 level, Green was called up to the EHL Premier team. In his first game with the Premier team, he helped the Cyclones beat the Walpole Express 5-3, picking up 3 assists in the game. So far this season, Green has a stat line of 21-35-56 in 56 U16 games. He also has a stat line of 2-5-7 in 10 EHL Premier games.

One of Green's two Premier goals was a game-winner, and one of the top highlights from the MLK Day Showcase (VIDEO) in Hooksett, NH.

“I am very grateful to Coach Frank (O’Connor), Coach Bill (Flanagan), and the entire Cyclones organization for allowing me to further my hockey career here with the Cyclones. A special thank you to my mother for supporting me through every step of my career. I am honored to be able to play Division I hockey at UNH and to be a Wildcat in 2018,” said Green.
